Games For Rat Playtime

Try playing these games with your rat.

By Audrey Pavia

Rats enjoy playing games. They chase and play with one another, and will also enjoy playing with you.

Try hiding a favorite treat somewhere in your rat’s cage or in a rat-proofed room and watch your pet try to find it. Roll a cat ball past your rat and watch your pet give chase. Get a cat feather toy and drag it around so your rat will pursue it.

To get your rat to play with your hand, try mimicking rat behavior by rushing up to your rat with your hand and tickling it. Take your hand away suddenly and entice the rat to chase your hand back to the opposite side of the cage. The chasing game is fun for single rats that don't have other rats to play with.
