Is My Mouse Sick?

Know the signs to look for in a sick mouse.

Mice are active, alert animals. When healthy, their eyes and noses are free of discharge, their coats are sleek and shiny, and their droppings are firm and elongated.

Unhealthy mice may have a dull coat, eye or nasal discharge or diarrhea. They can also be lethargic, aggressive or sleep almost constantly.

If you see any of these signs in your mouse, take it to a small mammal exotics veterinarian immediately.

I am really worried, my mouse has been laying on top of her house, sleeping most of the time, and hardly doing anything active. Yes, she is alive, but i am really worried!!! please help me and tell me what i should do!! :'(

my fancy mouse, 20 months old, has been hanging her head low and panting. she sits on her wheel, and her head is hanging down below. she recently lost her partner, and I am so worried about her. I fear she has a broken heart.

These are very good points to read about mouse-health. One of my mice just passed away this morning. He had been sick for a few weeks. He was no longer active, very small droppings, and sleeping a lot. The vet prescribed antibiotics which helped him improve drastically, but after a few days, he declined very rapidly and passed away this morning in my lap. I did everything I could for him, and I'll always miss him, but I'm very happy I was with him this morning when it happened.
