Toys For Hedgehog Playtime

Offer a variety of toys and exercise equipment to your hedgehog.

By Audrey Pavia

Hedgehogs need regular exercise. In addition to letting your hedgehog out of the cage in a safe, hedgehog-proofed room, provide an exercise wheel so it can run. The wheel should have a solid floor and should measure approximately 11 inches in diameter. Put the wheel in your small pet’s cage and leave it in there all the times so it has 24-hour access to exercise.

Hedgehogs like to play with toys. Keep some toys in your hedgehog’s cage so it can amuse itself when it’s confined. Give toys when it’s having out-of-cage time as well.

Good toys for hedgehogs include small rubber balls, toys made for cats, empty toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls, small boxes and plastic tubes.
