Director Alison Parker brings to life the story of a boy and his ferret in her short film Jake And Jasper: A Ferret Tale, available on DVD. Young Jake withdraws from the world after his mother’s death, and with his father at turns withdrawn or angry and his older sister moving out of the house, Jake is left with only Jasper the ferret, a gift from his sister, as an anchor to the world. Jake and Jasper develop a strong bond, but even that is endangered when Jake’s father threatens to take away the ferret. In a desperate attempt to stay together, Jake runs away from home with Jasper, and the two get lost in a nearby forest and face the worst obstacles yet.
