Q: Every week for the past four years my ferret gets his nails trimmed. Never, and I do mean never, have I clipped a nail too short. So please tell me, why does my ferret act like I’m killing him or that I’m trying to cut his toe off?
A: Honestly, I have no idea for certain why ferrets do this, but it is a common problem in most pets. Dog, cat and ferret owners all seem to struggle with nail trimming.
I can only guess the ferrets and other pets are uncomfortable with being restrained and the pressure on their nails. Pets also don’t know why you are doing it or what you are actually doing.
