Q: I have two male ferrets that are 5 to 6 years old. I just moved into a house, and my landlord will not let me keep them. I didn't think it would be an issue, because they are letting me keep my two dogs. What can I do? They are good ferrets.
A: This is why it is important to give a prospective landlord full disclosure about all of you pets and make sure he or she is educated about the pets that you have. I have experience living in an apartment complex that allowed dogs (with a pet deposit) and would allow my ferrets if they were caged. The landlords are only looking out for the safety and security of their property.
Try talking to the landlord and explaining that the ferrets are caged most of the time and hope he or she understands. If not, you will need to either move or find these two "old guys" a new place to live.
