Ferret Noises

All about ferret noises.

Q: What are the normal noises that ferrets make?

A: Ferrets make quite a few noises that include a "dook" (a clucking noise); a hiss, which indicates frustration; a screech/scream, which requires immediate attention; and a squeak often heard during play.

All these noises are common and normal ferret noises in healthy ferrets. Occasionally you might hear a whine or whimper, which can mean pain, so have a veterinarian check that out if it happens.

It is very informative. This is our first male ferret,3yrs old, we adopted. What I didn't see in the Q&A was ferrets having hiccups. Both females & this male have occasional hiccups. Also, the male has a stronger odor than the females did. Can you recommend a product for that.
