Q: Are ferrets a good family pet to have or not? Are they good with children, or are they more for a couple?
A: Ferrets are great pets in the right situation and terrible in the wrong situation, so it depends on what you are looking for in a pet and your expectations.
In general, I recommend children be more than 6 years old to have pet ferrets. This is because ferrets are squirmy, which makes them difficult to hold, and they can bite if mishandled.
Ferrets require a lot of one-on-one time and can be quite a handful to keep entertained.
