Ferrets And Chinchillas Playing Together

Is it OK for ferrets and chinchillas to play together?

Q: Can a chinchilla and a ferret learn to play with each other?

A: The short answer to this is no. Ferrets are carnivores and eat rodents, and chinchillas are rodents and herbivores. Given a chance, the ferret would probably kill or severely hurt the chinchilla.

Ferrets and chinchillas can be kept in the same home as long as each is safely in a cage while the other is out. They cannot play with each other.
