Critters USA 2013 coverDear fans of Critters USA and Ferrets USA magazines,

I am sorry to report that the annual magazines Critters USA and Ferrets USA have ceased publication. The 2013 issue was the last for Critters USA and the 2012 issue was the last for Ferrets USA. Both issues are still on sale. They are sold in pet stores, newsstands and book stores, and are also available directly from the publisher at ShopAnimalNetwork.com.

Both Critters USA and Ferrets USA began publishing in 1996 with the goal of helping owners of ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, chinchillas, gerbils, rats, hedgehogs and other small animal pets to learn more about their pets so that both they and their pets could share the best life possible together. We will continue this mission on our website, SmallAnimalChannel.com, and through continued publication of the annual magazine Rabbits USA.

Some of you may wonder what’s to become of the photo contests that were announced in the last issues. We’re excited to say that these will be moving to online. Check SmallAnimalChannel in January 2013 for information about prizes and voting.

I give a big thank you to all of the writers, photographers, interviewees, product manufacturers and advertisers who contributed to making these magazines great. I also thank the readers, who are most important. It’s been a joy to hear some of your stories, see photos of your pets and bring you valuable information.

Ferrets USA 2012 coverI worked on these magazines for 10 years, and it was an amazing experience. I look forward to hearing from more of you online at SmallAnimalChannel.com and, for rabbit owners, in Rabbits USA. If you haven't already, be sure to sign up for the SmallAnimalChannel newsletter so you get regular updates about happenings on the site.

Wow, I am really sad that almost all of my favorite magazines have stopped publication. While I appreciate that there is a forum online, I really like to have a hard copy. I will miss Critters and I really miss Bird Talk. Glad that Rabbits is still being published. I hate to see everything go online and the printed word become obsolete.

WHAT! I had one of these in my hands at Petsmart tonight! They had two copies left and I should have bought them...had a vibe! Yikes! I have ALL the issues and enjoy them so much and still use them for reference. Thanks you so much for all your hard work on making this site and former magazine such a big part of the ferret community's lives. We are so much better for it and we really do appreciate you! Hey? How about sponsoring The Ferret Squad since you won't be publishing that mag? They could sure Use some backing and Small Animal Channel could sure use the exposure! Check it out...! LINK

Marylou, thank you for bringing us such a quality product over the past 10 years. I have been reluctant to switch from hard copy to digital copy but I realize that it is almost inevitable. I look forward to your continued great work on the website!
