Chinchillas don’t take baths in water. Instead, they bathe in dust. It’s a special type of dust available fro pet product retailers, and it really does help keep their fur clean.

This chinchilla is named Taro, and he is described as a "veteran dust bather.” After watching him in action, I’m sure you’ll agree. It’s amazing to watch, especially when the video flips into slow motion a little more than a minute into it at 1:21. Wow.

Chinchillas are not the only small animal pets who enjoy a dust bath. Hamsters have also been known to indulge, given the chance. Have you offered your small animal pet a dust bath?
