Egad! The BBC has posted a fascinating video showing a hamster stuffing his cheeks with an entire dish of food. As if that isn’t reason enough to watch, an X-ray view allows us to see where all the food is going.
Those cheek pouches? They run all the way back to his hips. He’s just a furry, little food train on a mission. And the close-ups of him stuffing his cheeks are amazing. Of course, the video cuts out when it reaches another interesting part — showing the hamster removing all the food from his cheeks after traveling back to his food cache. To see that, you’ll have to watch episode 1 of the BBC show Pets—Wild At Heart.
And Doctor Who fans will be pleasantly surprised, because the narrator of this fascinating bit of furry amazement is none other than David Tennant. Hamsters are just one of the pets featured. Other segments focus on why budgies talk, how cats scale vertical walls, the meaning of a rabbit’s hop and much more. The show will be first broadcast on BBC One on January 21. Now to figure out how to see it in the United States...
