Sleeping Ferret Paws The Air

What’s behind the movements of this adorable ferret as he sleeps in this video?

That involuntary twitch or movement during sleep. When it happens to me, I usually wake up with a start. This little ferret, though, sleeps on peacefully as his ear and paws almost dance.

In an article about ferret sleep secrets, the question of whether ferrets dream was raised. It’s been proven that ferrets experience a high level of REM sleep, but whether or not that means they are dreaming during that time is still debatable.

What’s not up for debate is that ferrets do occasionally twitch or jerk during sleep. Given that ferrets are also known to sleep so soundly and not move so that they appear dead, a bit of twitching seems preferable!

If he is dreaming, I bet this ferret sees himself doing a Weasel War Dance or he’s digging in some dirt or he’s trying to reach inside a purse — let’s face it, he could be doing anything. But there’s no doubt it’s something fun and mischievous!
