Back in 2011, Mazda recalled thousands of cars in North America due to the fear that the yellow sac spider might weave webs that might cause obstructions in the fuel line. Not a good thing for the cars.
Now we learn that drivers in Europe have a gnawing problem with martens. These members of the weasel family apparently like to crawl up into the undercarriage of cars and chew up things like wires. Again, not a good thing for the cars.
Audi recently hid cameras under the hood and throughout the undercarriage of a car, then they had an animal trainer set loose a ferret and other members of the weasel family to see what they did inside the car. The results were likely not surprising to pet ferret owners, who know that all things rubbery are usually impossible for ferrets to resist.
