The Harlequin rabbit breed was first bred in the 1800s and has developed into two groups, the Japanese and the Magpie. The Japanese alternates the base color with golden orange while the Magpie alternates the base color with white. Known for its stark contrast – with one side of the rabbit looking the opposite of the other – five to seven bars or bands mark its fur.
