The California Domestic Ferret Educational Alliance recently received 501(c)(3) nonprofit status from the Internal Revenue Service. The CDFEA has one goal: to educate Californians about the domestic ferret, an animal currently banned as a pet in the state of California.
The new nonprofit status allows the CDFEA to begin fundraising, and members of the organization hope that the tax exempt funds raised by the group can be used to pay for studies on the domestic ferrets' impact on the environment in other states as they relate to the current status of domestic ferrets in California. Further, the CDFEA is working to establish informational teams that will be sent to various public venues to interact with the general public and provide information that is relevant to ferret education.
For more information, visit the CDFEA website or e-mail, or write to CDFEA, P.O. Box 53306, Irvine, CA 92619-3306, or call (949) 241-1189.
