Can you feel the excitement emanating from Columbus, Ohio? It’s from ferret enthusiasts everywhere, and it’s because of the Ferret Buckeye Bash! This amazing ferret show takes place this weekend on August 23. This year is the 16th time the Heart of Ohio Ferret Association has organized the Ferret Buckeye Bash, which is billed as the largest ferret show in the United States. It’s so large, that it was featured in the 2007 documentary Ferrets: The Pursuit of Excellence.
The Ferret Buckeye Bash is sanctioned by the American Ferret Association and combines not only conformation rings, but also fun contests for ferrets and plenty of shopping opportunities from numerous vendors.
But that is not all. There are also raffles and silent auctions going on that present attendees opportunities to win amazing prizes.

Another big draw for this show is speaker Bob Church, who is a frequent speaker at ferret events who shares his wealth of knowledge about these amazing pets. Church is a former photojournalist and a zooarcheologist.
This year brings one big change to the Ferret Buckeye Bash. It will take place at the Northland Performing Art Center instead of the Veteran’s Memorial Hall in Columbus. This change occurred because the Veteran’s Memorial Hall was closed and demolished earlier this month.
Registration for the ring events has closed. Note that anyone bringing a ferret to the show hall must show proof of the ferret being current on rabies vaccination and proof of negative Aleutian disease virus test results dated within one year of the show. Also, owners must sign a waiver stating that the ferret’s distemper vaccination is current.
