The APPA's National Children's Pet Poetry Contest gives children the chance to sing their pet's praises in a poem.

Attention all third, fourth and fifth grade students: Enter a poem about your pet by 5 p.m. EST on February 14, 2011, in order to have a chance to win the American Pet Products Association’s Third Annual National Children’s Pet Poetry Contest.

The APPA invites you to write a unique poem about your pet, including what you love about it and the joys it brings. Post your poem online at the Pets Add Life website or mail your poem and submission form to Pets Add Life, 45 Winter St., Reno, NV 89503.

Two students from each grade level (six total) nationwide will win a $250 gift certificate for pet products, and a byline in a nationally circulated publication. In addition, the six winning students’ classrooms will each receive a $1,000 scholarship to spend on pet-related education.
