Five individuals pursuing education in the exotic and companion animal veterinary fields received $3,500 in scholarships this year from Oxbow Animal Health. Oxbow awarded its 2010 Academic Scholarships to the following:
● Veterinary Medicine Academic Scholarship
Alicia McLaughlin, Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Health Sciences
● Nebraska High School Scholarship
Taylor Schulze, Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer High School
● Undergraduate Academic Scholarship
Hannah Rivard, Northwestern College
● Veterinary Technology Academic Scholarship
Rosemary Kathryn Lucas, Athens Technical College
● Veterinary Technology Academic Scholarship
Erin Stensland, Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology
The Oxbow scholarship winners are chosen for interest and involvement in the field of exotic animal health, excellence in the areas of academic achievement, and clarity and eloquence in expression of future career goals and interests. The scholarship program began in 2007, and students apply for the scholarships through the Oxbow website.
Erin Stensland, recipient of this year’s Veterinary Technology Academic Scholarship, addressed the ways in which the Oxbow scholarship will assist her in her future endeavors. “Receiving this scholarship means that I can get the education I dreamed of,” said Stensland. “It is a joy to know that a portion of my tuition has been taken care of, and I can now focus on my studies and take my education even further. I thank Oxbow Animal Health for giving me this opportunity.”
