Chinchilla Care Done Right!Chinchillas are small pets with a gregarious, effervescent personality. They usually enjoy good health if properly cared for, so owners actually have a lot of influence on the overall health status of their pet. 

The majority of disease conditions in pet chinchillas can be related to nutritional and/or management deficiencies and mistakes. The following descriptions concerning reported disease conditions are potential disorders that may affect chinchillas, but are each in their own right, possibilities and not probabilities. Contrary to most other rodent species, chinchillas have a much lower potential to be affected by infections or contagious diseases. Chinchillas are not prone to cancer conditions like their other rodent relatives either.
