A Little On The Different Side - Critters USA

Dogs and cats make great pets, but for something unique and exotic check out chinchillas, sugar gliders, gerbils, flying squirrels, Patagonian cavies or short-tailed opossums.

A Little On The Different SideFrom pets that can “fly” to those that hop like rabbits (but aren’t), the following critters provide different and unique challenges, from their diet to their care. But the rewards of having one as a pet are priceless.

“They love to play, run around and climb over things. They love to sit on people’s heads. They’re a riot,” said Jacob Lunderman of Texas, owner of two chinchillas, Loki and Damien.

Affectionately called “chins” by their owners, chinchillas are quite a popular pet. When most owners describe their chinchilla as playful, fun, energetic, fuzzy and soft, it isn’t hard to see why.
