In today’s fast-paced, that-trend-was-so-five-minutes-ago world, reaching an anniversary of 10 or more years is worth noting. And reaching one that saved the lives of more than 20,000 bunnies is especially noteworthy. As the House Rabbit Society marks its 20th anniversary in 2008, members of the international nonprofit organization celebrate with events throughout the year at various chapters. What goes on at such celebrations? We contacted some of the HRS chapters to find out.
Sacramento – Run For The Buns 2008
The Sacramento House Rabbit Society kicked off the yearlong HRS events by hosting its annual Run For The Buns fundraiser on March 22. Chapter manager Margaret-Rose Batterman said this was the third year for the event. More than 150 people attended and more than 100 of those were runners. In its first year, only 30 runners participated. This year’s event grossed more than $4,300 that will cover the costs of spaying and neutering foster rabbits, medical expenses and educational outreach efforts.
