Q: We just got a kitten, and we were wondering if he and our bunny could share a water dish. The bunny usually drinks from a bottle, but we would get a pet fountain bowl for both.
A: This is difficult to answer. If you keep the bowl super clean and there is little bacterial contamination, it is probably fine to do this. But how clean do you think you can keep the bowl?
Also, some rabbits and cats get along and never have a problem. I have had rabbits and cats living in my house, and I never had a problem with fighting. But if you did get a cat and a rabbit that had an altercation, cats can carry bacteria that could cause a severe infection in the rabbit. Do you want to have your rabbit and cat in close contact at a water bowl all the time?
