Q: How can you tell the sex of a chinchilla? I have had mine for about a year, and I still don't know if it's a boy or girl.

A: On a male chinchilla, there is small space between the penis and the anus. On the female chinchilla, there is almost no space between the vaginal opening and the anal cavity. See pictures below.

Those chinchillas is the pictures to identify gendar are not being taken care of properly . They feet are sore and mostly likely seen to have ulcers. And the female has urine stains which can cause disease. Dust baths take care of that. Just thought if let you know

Thank you SO mych for the picture of the adult male genetalia. My male chinchilla also seems to have a balding area aroung the genetalia and i was a bit nervous but now i am more secure.

I have a chinchilla who is about 7 months old (8 months in augest) and i can't tell if it's a girl or boy! and is there sapost to be hair covering the butt hole? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
