You've probably already snapped pictures of your small animal pet, but have you considered immortalizing him or her with a drawing or painting you created yourself? If you've already done so, this contest is for you! If you haven't yet drawn your pet, then let this contest be your inspiration!
Draw, paint or color your small animal pet using any non-electronic media. This contest is strictly retro/classical. Feel like sculpting your pet instead? That's fine, too. Want to immortalize your rabbit as a macaroni masterpiece or recreate your ferret in felt? How about creating a pointillism portrait of your guinea pig or a silhouette of your hamster? Go for it!
Be creative, be original and have fun! We're looking forward to seeing gerbils, chinchillas, sugar gliders, hedgehogs, rats, mice and any small animal pet as artwork. Just take a picture of your original art featuring your pet or scan it to upload to the contest.
The contest runs through April 30, 2013. Your first entry earns you 250 Club Critter points (be sure you sign in to your Club Critter account before uploading your photo to earn the points). Club Critter points can be used to purchase items in the Avatar shop or redeem items from the rewards catalog.
Winners will be chosen differently than in previous contests. Editors will select top entries to post on the SmallAnimalChannel Facebook page during the first week of May. The three images with the most Likes by midnight on May 12, 2013, will become the winner and two runners-up. The winner of the contest receives 1,000 Club Critter points and his or her choice of a copy of the 2013 issue of Critters USA magazine, the 2012 issue of Ferrets USA magazine or the 2013 issue of Rabbits USA magazine, plus a tote bag and a fluffly stuffed ferret. Two runners-up will also receive a tote bag.
The Small Animal Artwork contest is open to small animal pets only (guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets, hamsters, etc.). If you have a dog, cat, bird, reptile, fish or horse, be sure to check out our sister sites (click on the link) for information about those species and to check for contests.
