Halloween is on the way, and so are fun costumes for your small animal pet. If your ferret, rabbit, guinea pig, hamster, rat or other small animal pet does not mind being dressed in a hat, cape or other nonbinding costume long enough for you to snap a photo, enter now to show off your pet's costume!
For pets that do object to any form of dress-up, a nice portrait-shot of him or her that has a costume added afterward with photo software also works.
If your pet is an explorer type and would voluntarily stick his or her head through a hole in a piece of paper or cardboard, you have another option. Just draw a costume on the paper or cardboard around a hole that will let your pet stick his or her head through it.
For any costume idea, always keep safety in mind and never force your pet to do something. Never leave your pet in a costume for longer than a few minutes and always be watching when your pet is in costume.
The contest runs through October 31, 2014. Editors will select one winner after the contest ends. The winner of the contest receives the 2014 issue of Rabbits USA magazine, plus a SmallAnimalChannel noisemaker. Two runners-up will also receive a SmallAnimalChannel noisemaker.
The Halloween Costume Contest 2014 is open to small animal pets only (guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets, hamsters, chinchillas, hedgehogs, rats, mice, sugar gliders, gerbils, etc.). If you have a dog, cat, bird, reptile, fish or horse, be sure to check out our sister sites (click on the link) for information about those species and to check for contests.
