I think this video is best describing a Marshall Ferret Farms ferret or a ferret from a large scale farm. Marshall ferrets are small (1 lbs females and 2 lb males), however, unaltered/late alter ferrets are much bigger with males reaching between 3-5 lbs and have considerably more muscle mass. I myself didn't see this difference until I attended a ferret show.
While spaying/neutering is a must for any pet ferret, the timing of that proceedure is crucial. It is best to wait until the ferret is between 4.5-6 months old to allow the animal to develop and reach maturity. Marshall Ferrets tend to have a higher occurance of Adrenal Gland disease in the earlier years (1-3yrs) because they are altered at such early ages of 3-5 weeks, while the occurance in unaltered/late alter is usually seen after 5 years. While spaying/neutering is a medical necessity for pet ferrets, descenting is not. While in the same family as skunks, their scent is certainly not as offensive and quickly dissipates when the animal is startled. However, Marshall ferrets arrive at petshops at the early age of 8 weeks (which means they left thier mothers even earlier)and these proceedures are already preformed.
As it is almost an enevitabilty that most ferret owners will need to seek veteranary care for thier ferrets in thier geratric years (or possibly eariler),I would have liked to have seen mentioned the need for ferrets to receive vaccinations, a license depending on your location and local laws, and possibly expensive medical care over its lifetime.
