After I get home from work, I always tend to the pig before I do anything else. Otherwise, I will hear about it later and I really don't like to be punished. Essentially, I let the Princess run around the living and dining rooms while I refresh her cage. Then I give her a grape or something small to hold her over until dinnertime. Last night was no exception and after my piggie chores were done, I turned the TV on to one of those channels that plays continuous commercial-free music (through digital cable radio). I'm keeping my treadmill in the living room area now, so that I can spend time with the Princess while I exercise and watch television. Well, I was a child of the ‘80s so I chose the ‘80s music channel since I absolutely love ‘80s music.
The Princess is very cool and hip and is obviously from a younger generation so I wasn't sure if she was going to appreciate my “Oldies but Goodies” music from the ‘80s – or my singing. After I was done with my jog, I walked briskly for a while and sang along to the music and closely watched her to see if she was feeling the love.
After a couple of songs, I could tell that the Princess was really enjoying the music! She started running around her cage and jumping on top of her big pile of timothy hay, popcorning and acting all silly and stuff. I think she likes it! And she had this look on her face that read, “Come on, Mama! Let's Boogie!” So, what else could I do?!? I jumped off of the treadmill and picked her up and we danced to ‘80s music all around the living and dining rooms. Oooh, it was so much fun!
At some point, one of my favorite ‘80s songs came on, The Escape Club's “Wild Wild West.” I danced with Princess Snowflake in my arms and sang it to her and realized that it was quite appropriate – “She's so sweeeet, but I don't care. I love her eyes and her wild, wild hair.” OK, so I changed some of the lyrics to better suit the Princess, but whatever. The Princess loved it and chitter-chattered as she tried to wheeek and sing along.
After the Dance Party was over, the Princess needed a nap for sure! Before she fell asleep, she told me that she wanted to have a ‘70s Dance Party tomorrow night. Geez. So I thought about trying to find a mini-disco ball that I could hang from the top of her cage – you know, to get her in the mood. But, instead I put her grassy hay ball in her cage and then she munch, munch, munched away while she practiced her dance moves.
I can't wait for Princess Snowflake's ‘70s Dance Party!
