I really would not advise to have an opossum as a pet. They need very specific diets and you need a vet who knows about them. Plus, they are legal in some states, but not in others. They are amazing wonderful animals and they are our only native marsupial. They should not be caged. They are incredibly intelligent and loving. Gizmo and his sister Aubrey were litter trained and actually asked to be cleaned after going to the bathroom! They dont live long, however, and 3-4 years is alot. That makes it very sad.
I had alot of ferrets in the past, which made it a bit easier to understand a more exotic pet.
