Hi! My Name is Sandstorm Icklebockien and I'm running for February COTM on SAC I hope you'll support me during my run. I'm a 7 year old Champagne Mitt ferret from Middleburg FL, I enjoyed playing with my friends Mario, Blacktail, Luigi, & Draco I was a happy ferret until Draco left for the rainbow bridge March 5th 2011 we planned to go to North Carolina for Thanksgiving, but I left to go to the rainbow bridge November 10th so I didn't get to go to North Carolina. The others left for North Carolina on November 19th I watched it all- They packed the night before, got up at 3:00 AM left by 4:30 AM when they got to Atlanta GA they stopped they were gone less than 7 minuets but when they came back The window was broken and a pet bag was gone so was some ferret bedding but the rest of it went well but they said they wished I had been able to come. Hi Lilly and Alvin!
Hi there Lilly (and Alvin) my new little friends,
You look snuggely warm in your home that depends
on your Mama to hold up your blanket just right
so you sleep ever soundly as though it were night.
I am curious, what's that thing is yellow and blue
that your pictured in. Is that another bed too???
You both look look in the camera as if you could say,
"Come on Mom let us out so have time to play!
Now then, Lilly, I hear that you sometimes will fight
with sweet Alvin, I KNOW that YOU KNOW thats not right!!!!
You need never be jealous, you've nothing to fear
"cause I think that sweet Alvin is simply quite dear!
And I'm certain he wishes you always good will
so please Lilly, with Alvin I wish that you'd "chill"
and be-have towards your cage mate as he does towards you
for without him you'd simply have nothjng to do!
You would be all alone and please take it from me
that although I am special you simply must see
That I live all alone 'cause my Mom wasn't told
at the Petco that I was already too old
to adjust to another and she didn't know
that OF COURSE Gerbils love to have company and so...
Though I'm THE only Gerbil that lives in my tank
I DO have a GREAT life and GREAT Mama to thank
for my play time and yes, she does spoil me a lot
Still, I wish that I wasn't alone quite a lot :(
But as long as we all have a human to love
though they're really quite tall and reach up from above!
Please be kind to your "brother" and soon you will see
that he really does love you, just take it from me!
From a single "child" Gerbil who wishes for you
that you do things TOGETHER as Hamsters times two!
Well, I don't mean to lecture I just mean to say
please be thankful you're pals and that ev-er-y day
you get up and shake paws and make friends and have fun

How are you doing? Are you all prepared for the winter? Well, I know that you are. You have a nice warm house and a loving family. What more do you need? And I must add, you are adorable! Thanks for noticing that I am too.
Mama and her friends have collected a whole pile of big, beautiful green acorns. They can't resist picking them up when they're out hiking. They say I'm special. I get imported acorns!
But... you won't believe what else mama did. She picked half my apples! And tomorrow she's planning on picking the rest. She finally got fed up of how many I was taking. I told he I'd share a couple of the smaller wormy ones with her. I just don't understand it...
I wanted to mention something sad that happened on HC. A good friend and regular blogger from there died last Friday. She was young but had been bedridden for the past 10 years with some congenital disease. No one had any idea that she was like this and it all came as a shock to us, her friends. Mama said she never complained once which is why we had no idea. It just shows that you never can judge what a person is going through.

Iams is not good food
The first ingredient in the food is a named meat product. This is not a meat meal, but is inclusive of water content (about 80%). Once this is removed, as it must be to create a dehydrated product, the ingredient will weigh around 20% of its wet weight. As ingredients are listed in order of weight, it is thus unlikely that this is truly the first ingredient in the food, but would be more accurately placed much further down the ingredient list as a minor ingredient in the food.
The main grain and main ingredient in the food is corn. Corn is a difficult to digest grain of limited value and that is commonly associated with allergy problems.
The third ingredient is byproducts. It is impossible to ascertain the quality of by-products and these are usually products that are of such low quality as to be rejected for use in the human food chain, or else are those parts that have so little value that they cannot be used elsewhere in either the human or pet food industries. The AAFCO definition of Chicken by-product meal is “a meal consisting of the ground, rendered, clean parts of the carcass of slaughtered chicken, such as necks, feet, undeveloped eggs and intestines, exclusive of feathers, except in such amounts as might occur unavoidable in good processing practice.
The only true meat ingredient in this food is the 8th ingredient, which is far too far down the ingredient list to make any significant difference to the overall meat content or quality of this product.
Beet pulp is a controversial filler. It is dried residue from sugar beets which has been cleaned and extracted in the process of manufacturing sugar. It is a controversial ingredient in dog food, claimed by some manufacturers to be a good source of fiber, and derided by others as an ingredient added to slow down the transition of rancid animal fats and causing stress to kidney and liver in the process. We note that beet pulp is an ingredient that commonly causes problems for dogs, including allergies and ear infections, and prefer not to see it used in dog food. I'm Mario 158580 and I am running for June COTM on SAC I hope you will support me during my run, I am a 3 year old Black Sable Point ferret, I am very happy to play in my play pen with my brothers. (And the litte princess Sandstorm Icklebockien.) I also enjoy grabbing the bars in my exercise pen and pulling myself around the pen until one of my humans picks me up and tells me how cute I am, "Although...I already know I am!" I'm very friendly and I'm nice to everyone, but, on November 29 2010 I had to have my second toe to the right on my left hind foot removed.(This is why my owners call me Tenderpaw!) It had swelled up and my owners took me to two differant vets but they couldn't tell what it was. The first vet put me on some antibiotics but they didn't work, and the second vet said it would be best to remove it. I am now back to my spoiled-ferrets fun filled life! I now enjoy snorkling in my water bowl! I hope you support me in my June run. I will post a new photo every day of my run, my theme is: Story Time.( I will post a chapter of a story on the pages of animals who support me.)
