Hi Porshy! Hi Poncho!
It has been too long and I miss our conversations. I got on facebook and lo and behold two bunny spaces have asked to be "friends". One was the house Rabbit Society and they other is a neat place that has blogs and bunny friends AND a great little store of safe treats for bunnies called www.BunSpace.com
Mom just bought their "chamomile bites" made right there at their store in Sonoma, California, and I think they are pretty good.
Mom and I have a question for you. How often do you give fruit treats? Also mom Michele read somewhere that cranberries are good for a rabbit's urinary tract. Do you know anything about cranberries? If you do, please inform! She is looking everywhere and not finding much on it.
Well, has it finally cooled off over there in Texas? It got cold here and then it started to turn into Spring and we are not even into February yet! This weather is strange.
So tell me what you have been up to! I have just been hanging out but mom Michele has been spending more time with me which has been good for both of us. How about you guys? Mom Michele has also been busy with teaching her son how to read. That is very exciting for them! Also, we have been getting ready for something called "Ayyam-i-ha" which is a gift giving and charity giving holiday in the Baha'i Faith, so we have been having lots of fun with that. Also, mom just read a book called "Touched By a Rabbit." Everyone who has a bunny should read this book -it is so touching and I really wanted to tell you all about how great it is so you can get your mom to buy it for herself. It will bring her closer to you and she will really identify with the stories in it.
Well, lots of love and bunny nose rubs to you both and to your mom as well.
love,
Starlight

Merry Christmas Porsha and Poncho and family!!!!!
Hi there Porsha! I really enjoyed your last message. It was kind of long ago, for some reason I didn't get that one. And I have not logged on for awhile- sorry about that. :-) I am glad your mom has found a way to deal with Poncho's shedding by "de-fluffing". That is what mom Michele does too, since I can't stand the brush. I am SO glad your teeth cleaning went well. That must have been hard on your mom to go through again so I am really glad that's over with!
Well, I have just a moment but I wanted to wish you and your family a merry Christmas. By the way, I ordered dried flowers from the Bunny Bunch boutique and just loved them- I wanted to recommend them to you, they really are wonderful!
Anyway, Mom Michele and I wish you happy holidays with your friends and family.
LOADS of love,
Starlight
PS: Congratulations on your recent award!

  Our condolances
Dear Porsha,
It was really wonderful to hear from you again! Please accept our condolances on the passing of your mother in law. She was a hero right to the end. Now she is in a beautiful place with no more suffering. We thought that was why you have not written.
Yes, I have been shedding too. Funny that your mom doesn't use a brush and just rubs it off, just like my owner does! NO brushes!!!!!!!
I am glad it is cooler now for you, it is very cold here. Guess the summer is over eh? Do you still go to visit the lake?
Glad to hear your teeth are fine and the anesthesia worked out just fine. My appointment is coming up too.
No problem with your not writing. I have missed you though, very much. What has your mom learned that she would like to share?
Love to learn too!

  Porsha my friend
My dear Porsha,
I have not heard from you in quite while, I am wondering what has been going on over there and how your mother in law is doing. We are wondering how all of you are doing although your last blog was a cheery one about how your sneezing got better and now you are looking very well. We are very happy to hear that! I just got a card from my vet saying it was time for my biannual checkup, which is good because my nails are getting quite long.
I still get herbs every day and wonder if you do too. Mom Michele ordered me some dried flowers to munch on, I have never tried it but it sounds nice. I miss hearing from you. How's the weather over there? It has been cold here. Are you well? Is everything ok? Please blog when you get a moment and let us know so we don't worry.
Many divine blessings to you all,
Starlight

  Hey there Porsha and friends
Hi! It is great to hear from you again. Sorry it took so long to write, Mom Michele has been busy with adjusting her medecine. So you went ahead and had your teeth spurs taken out? How did that go? Sorry to hear about your sneezing, your mom is really on the ball in taking care of you. Mom Michele and I are both very glad to know that you are doing better! :-)
So sorry to hear about your mother-in-law, fortunately we can take comfort in knowing that the other side is much better than life here in this plane of existence. We will continue to pray for her and for your family as well.
Is it starting to cool off over there? It is starting to look like fall here.
Gotta go for now, but had to write a note to connect and let you know we are thinking of you and we hold you with love in our hearts.
Many nose rubs,
Starlight

  You are an inspiration too!
Hi all. It was only recently that I got to see your blog and it was such a wonderful read. You and your mom are so caring it is wondderful and it spreads goodwill and good feelings like sunshine. How is your mom's mother in law doing? She is such an example of courage to us, she is being a tower of strength and hope in this illness that is such and example to us. God willing she has more up days than down days. We will keep her in our prayers.
Sorry it has been so darn hot over there- yikes! It jsut now started to be hot here. It is so odd, it has been cool all summer and now that summer is almost over it has been hot. Hopefully it will cool off soon for you.
Wow, you guys have been going through so much, gosh Porsha with your red eye and with both of you having to work on your teeth and all that shedding. We will remember you in our prayers also.
Not much going on here, Mom went to get me fresh greens today. And the shedding has calmed down a lot, I don't get brushed but when I go out of the cage to hang out mom Michele pets me and in so doing gets a lot of that shedded fur. It's really the only and best way to keep everyone happy and feeling safe.
God bless you for being such a good friend we hope that you are all feeling well soon. Tell your mom we totally understand why she would be worried about the anesthesia considering what happened with Ringo; The vet said that it wouldn't be the anesthesia that Ringo got, just a part of it and so that is a blessing. I am sure everything will be just fine, but, as I said before we will keep you all in our prayers.
Lots of love,
Starlight

  Great to hear from you!!!!!
We are so happy to hear from you! We are so sorry to hear about mother in law, we will pray for her tonight that she does better and has courage. Mom Michele knows someone who was clinically dead for 20-30 minutes and then revived at the hospital near her and she told us all quite a story of what it was like to be "on the other side". She said it was beautiful there and she did not want to come back. She was also able to tell us thigns that transpired in the emergency room that she could not have otherwise known while she was "dead". It really opens up a whole world that it is death is not the end, but the beginning of a whole new journey. Still, going through what she is going through must be scary and tough. I am so sorry she is going through it and we will pray for her. We are both so happy she has people around her who love her to be there for her. Praise the good Lord for that. I am sorry she is finding it hard to breathe. That really sucks!
Mom Michele has not been spending enough time with me and we are both upset about it. I think I am handling it better than she is though. There is so much going on and trying to find time to share has been difficult.
I am shedding a lot which is really strange because it is not autumn yet. (Are you guys shedding yet?)Mom Michele keeps wanting to use the brush on me but I will have none of it! So She just pets me until enough fur has come off and then he puts it in the garbaage. Much less traumatic that way for both of us.
I'd love to send you some cold and you and send us some of that warmth, because the fruit on our trees is not ripening because of the cold.
Well, I am off to go eat an apple. Thanks for checking on in and writing me. I love to get your messages and we have been wondering how you are and how things have been going for you!
love and bunny kisses,

  Greetings Porsha, Poncho and Scooter!
Hey there, I am so sorry I have not answered your blog until now, but I did not get your last message until just today. It was so great to hear from you again! :-)
Glad to hear you love romaine lettuce too. Wow, you guys get a lot of stuff. Mom Michele wants me to stick to a diet of greens like parsely and mint, as well as lettuce becuase the vet said not to feed too much fruit. She doesn't really know what is considered too much so I only get apples and strawberries every once in a while. She has been going through a lot, so she has been visiting more often, which I really love and I get more opportunities to be a channel of love and light, which is great for me and her.
It has been really cold lately here, the fruit on the trees are not ripening like they should be. The report here says we hit the biggest low in summer temperature since I don;t even know when! Mom Michele's back went out and so she must see the local chiropractor before she feels safe to pick up my cage and take me outside, she totally could though becuase this weather would be great for me. Sorry it is so hot there, but at least you are getting a lot of the house to run around in. You are both very blessed! I guess I'm blessed too, but in a different way.
Sorry about your mom's mother in law. What a test! She must be one of the strongest people I know- always glad to see people but never knowing what day will be her last one. It is so kind of your mom to look out for her and love her like she does.
What a happy story with that bunny your mom picked up and brought to the shelter, where now that bunny can get the care and love he/she needs. (Is the bunny a girl or boy?)
Bet you'll really love that Botanical hay you are getting. What brand is it?
Well, I'm off to go sit with Mom Michele and see if I can lift her spirits.
Best wishes and many blessings,
Starlight

  Apples and Romaine Lettuce
Hi Porsha,
So you really go crazy for apples. Me too! I also go crazy for Romaine Lettuce. Do you ever get lettuce?
It has been cooler here again, too bad because mom Michele likes to take her son swimming and we can't go if it is not warm enough in the water. At least you guys get to go though! Perhaps it is cool enough to go outside for a while- maybe I will try that.
How is your mom's mother-in-law fairing? I'm glad she likes you guys.
Not too much going on here. I'll write more later.
We love writing you all too! We look forward to a message every day.

  Hey there Porsha!
It was great to hear from you. Mom Michele is feeling better! We are all relieved to hear it and thank the good Lord for it. still not sure about the HBOT Mom Michele has lots of questions to be answered first, but at least she is feeling better.
Your emails inspire Mom Michele to feed me apples lol so i have been eating well. She bought me strawberries not too long ago because they are in season here. That warm weather has finally started to return, did you send some this way? I like the cooler weather, but mom Michele likes to take her son swimming and if it is cool, then it's not very fun for them.
I am very sad to hear about Mom Jana's mother in law has terminal cancer. You have my sympathies and prayers. So you have been visiting her at the lake? How does she like you and Poncho? Is she nice and feeds you apples too?
I am happy that you are all well and hope the weather is cooler for you on your end. 105 is simply too hot.

  You got an award!!!!
Congratulations, Porsha you got an award! I can't quite make out the words on it, can you tell me what it is for?
No worries about HBOT, mom Michele found a great place and they anwered all my questions. Now she is taking some time to think about all the answers so she can make a good decision about it. Thanks for all your help anyway and all your support. You are so very wonderful.
Yikes, that poor bunny made it to the right person, though. Your mom took her into the vet and the shelter and now she is going to get better. That was God smiling upon both that bunny and your mom.
It is kind of cold over here this summer, it is so strange. Send that warmth this way!
I'm out of hay so tomorrow mom Michele is going to go get me some more along with carefresh bedding. She has to clean my cage once every four days! It is a lot of work, but then I'm a big bunny next to what she used to have around here. I'm 6 pounds, and her mini lops were half that size! But that just means there is more of me to love and love right on back.
Congratulations again on your award!
Many bunny kisses and nose rubs,

  You guys are great!
Hi Porsha and Poncho! So glad to hear the weekend was shaded and the sunshine was bearable. We really have had a lot of blogs and it is wonderful being your friend. Both you and Mom Jana are beautiful spirits and we are grateful to your friendship. thanks for asking about the HBOT. It must not have many risks if so many people use it. Mom Michele has seen scans of people's brain function after HBOT and they are impressive. So we both have hope.
It was a nice weekend here, the weather is warmer now, before it was much too cold. Mom will probably take me outside to visit with the fresh air, the birds, and the dog. All from inside my cage, of course! :-)
Mom is taking me out more often and I am getting used to her picking me up and petting me. I am beginning to like it here and feel like I have finally found a home. Each time she visits she pets me and I get lettuce and greens each day and every time she sits down to visit I have lots of kisses for her. I think it helps to comfort her.
Keep me posted on what is new for you guys. It is always a cheer to hear from you!!!!!!!!
Lots of love,

  Happy 4th!!
Wow- thanks for the tip about those poor bunnies who show at the fair. I always thought they must have a good life.
While it has been hot and unusually humid there in Texas, it has been unusually way colder here in California. Mom Michele doesn't want to take sides on global warming, but this definitely feels like a climate change.
Mom Michele is having second thoughts about the HBOT. More than anything she wants to be able to be there for her son and a brain is nothing to mess with. She is at such a fragile place as it is. On the other hand, HBOT is supposed to help heal the brain. Can a person die from HBOT? Is it risky? Mom wants to work again and not be financially dependent. Doesn't know which way is the right way to turn, so if you or Mom Jana have any ideas or input we could both sure use it.
Well, it sounds as usual like you are enjoying yourselves running around and I suppose you all will be at the lake for the 4th. Have a super time!
Give mom Jana our best.
Love from both of us,
Star and Michele

  Hey there Porsha and friends
So nice of you to drop by our blog. So your town is famous for watermelons. That sounds nice. The festival must be really neat and I wonder if they show animals there? Were there rabbits to be seen at the Luling Watermelon Thump?
That is interesting about there being Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in the hospital where you work. Mom Michele thought it was only at places where only alternative medecine approaches are held. She is going to look aroudn some more now and try to find a place where they accept Medicare so she doesn't have to pay in cash so thanks for the tip.
That is so great that you go to the shelter to help out the bunnies there. it is good for your mom and good for the shelter, everyone wins. Wish we could be there with you!
Mom Michele just cleaned my cage today, she has to clean it every 3-4 days because I weigh 6 pounds and leave a lot of droppings for a rabbit my size. I shower her with lots of love and kisses afterward because I really love a clean cage. I guess you like it when Dottie drops by. lol Yuck!
So is it hot where you are still? Texas and Arizona and New Mexico really get hit with heat. Mom Michele used to live in Arizona, and worked at the Navajo Res for a while. It has been hot here, so I stay in mostly. Bunnies don't do well in heat.
I think I will convince Mom Michele to get me those flower petals. By the way, what is the name of your mom?
Well, I'm off to eat some hay and just chill out with my owner. We will keep you in our prayers and happy thoughts.

  Parsely is the BEST
Especially italien parsely. Hi there Porsha! I have never heard of the Luling Watermelon Thump, it must be one of the rides at the carnival near where you all live. Hope your mom and her two daughters have fun!
Things are better over here. My owner found out the benefits of something called Hyperbaric oxygen therapy. It is expensive but after many sessions one's brain can actually heal. So she is thinking about doing that.
Congratulations on Scooter's video winning Editor's choice for June! That is awesome! Not that I am surprised, it is a super video!
By the way, is Dottie your mom's dog and why is she in your pen? I guess you guys are all friends and that is really nice. I too am getting used to the dog my owner has. It has been nice having my owner around more often. I bet you feel the same way, sorry she was out late but I bet that doesn't happen often and at least you have each other and a nice size pen. :-)
Did your mom ever get those flower petals for you? My owner is thinking about it too, since your mom suggested it.
Well, I'm off to eat more parsely. Yum!

I am sure the shelter was safe too, but there is nothing quite like a loving, stable place with all the love and security your mom gives you. Awesome!
Well, my owner missed her doctor's appointment (it's a long story) but she has a new one for this Saturday. So no worries.
Not much new is happening with me except that the Herb Blended Hay from the Bunny Bunch Boutique is fabulous and I wish i could send you some!!! This hay will make any one want to eat hay.

Thanks for all the encouragement and for being there for my owner too.

  Dear one Porsha
Hey there, Porsha. I have not seen my owner much because she is not feeling well. Her medication switch is not going well and she has had to stop in the middle of it. She is going to talk to her doctor this Saturday to determine what to do next. But when I see her and she sits down with me I try to let her know that everything is going to be all right and God is with her. I seem to do a pretty good job because when she leaves she is more herself.
That is really wonderful that your mom is volunteering at the bunny shelter, although I am sorry it is so hot! Bunnies don't do well in the heat. That is neat about Razzy coming over to chat with you. Fixing a male rabbit will stop the spraying. SO we agree with you- I know because my owner once had the same problem.
It's strange that it is so hot where you are because here it has been chilly even though the sun is out. Hopefully things will cool off soon.
Your warm and funny blog entries help us both to feel good so thank you for all your care and for being a friend.
Well I am off to eat something nice like an apple.

My dearest friends Porsha and Poncho!
What a wonderful blog you left! It was super reading about your trip to the lake and about the bunny shelter. Thanks so much for the encouragement for my owner's trials with her medication switch. She has been very frightened but has been working through it and now it seems that things are going to work out. Usually she takes her cross stitch with her and she cross stitches and I do my things, like play and whew on my willow ball or go in my box filled with herb blended hay and i pick out my favorite hay snacks in there. :-) But lately she has just been coming in to just "be together" which has been very theraputic. It has been doing her a lot of good to just be with me, and vice versa. We are very close friends.
It is so wonderful that you are introducing people that come by the lake property to the concept of having buns around the house as a pet idea. So glad dad makes sure you are not left out, Porsha.
So wonderful of your mom to leave a donation and volunteer time at the shelter. Bet you love your barley cakes she got you! You know, on this site they were advertising a shirt that had ferrets all over the front and it said "you can't stop at just one." Well, we need to get your mom the same shirt only with bunnies all over it saying "you can't stop at just one!" :-)
Sorry this is so short it is late and must get to bed. Thanks for including us in on your wonderful lives and for all the encouragement and love. We both thrive on them.

  The Lake sounds wonderful!
Dear Porsha and Poncho,
SO sorry that I have not yet blogged. My owner is going through tests with her medication, it seems that one of them gives her panic attacks. That is not good, she was so overcome she was not able to even take me out yesterday. But I am still trying to be there for her. Hopefully today things will be different as she talks with her doctor today on the phone for a half hour appointment.Hopefully he will know what to advise.
Yes the bunny bunch boutique has such cute bunnies advertised, there is a pet store around here where my owner gets my food and hay and they often have baby bunnies for sale. She always want to bring one home. You can never have too many bunnies around I say.
your mom is so kind and wonderful to be so supportive. My owner really needs it right now. You all have been such wonderful friends and we are both grateful to know you all. Thanks for being there.

  A Snake made COTD?!
What on earth? That is so odd- it must have been a mistake. All God's creatures are beautiful in their own way, but snakes are predators of all the critters on this site! That is creepy! How do you get in contact with the people who run this site?
So glad you liked the Bunny Bunch Boutique. It's a fun place. Did your mom buiy anything? Their flowers look delicious don't they? My owner bought some hay- the herb blended hay with lavender- she swore once it arrived to the house I would never eat it in a million years. She tried it out on me and boy was she wrong, that stuff was awesome!
My owner is still having ups and downs with her medication change, it is going to be that way for a while, it is a slow process of balancing. I am glad I am hear for her, she needs me. She needs you too.

Hi there Porsha and Poncho (and Scooter :-)) So sorry I have not written lately but my owner has been having some health issues with her back and with changing her medications. She would often sit me and I would just be there for her, showering her with light and love, and bunny kisses to comfort her. The worst appears to be over and we are both very glad.
The flowers -you can get a whole box of rose petals, marigolds, and other flower petals that are good treat for rabbits at the Bunny Bunch Boutique (if you go to google and type "Bunny Bunch Boutique" you can find the site to click on and then look under "Hay and Treats". They have some marvelous treats, I love the jumbo willow ball stuffed with Herb Blended hay with Lavender. It's my favorite and my owner thinks I am very picky! Lots of other goodies there too. it's jsut a fun shop for bunny lovers. They ship it right to your door :-)

Yes everything is fine with my owner today. Thank you so much for your concern and caring heart :-)And no, she did not get me a litter box. She got me a box, a big box to hide in and jump in and on top of. No litter box yet, she is waiting for the first of the month when money is replenished again. :-) A straw mat is a nice idea. My owner's last bunny got dried papaya, that is good stuff and she will probably have me try it soon. But she prefers, after what happened to her last bun, to keep my snacks to fresh fruit and hay. Hey they sell dried flower petals at the Bunny Bunch Boutique. She might get some of those, how do they sound for you guys?
Louisianna, eh? Did she say who she was visiting? Well, you both must have missed her a whole lot and glad to have her back! I can't wait to see another video of you guys eating your strawberries or something.
Hope to talk to you again soon, still lots to do around here.

Say yes to the litter box
Hey there Porsha and Poncho and Scooter! Hmmm . . . a litter box is looking more and more appealing. My poop gets everywhere and then I push it and the bedding all out to the sides of my cage because I don't want to lie in it. Then there is no more bedding for me to lie on, it is all at the sides of my cage covering poop. Trouble is, my owner already got me a litter box, but it wouldn't attach to the sides of the cage, so as soon as she put it in there, I just pushed it and pulled it all around in my cage, which is really no good. She needs to find one that will attach. Gosh those inserts sound great! I wonder where to look for them, well I will try Petco for all this then Petsmart. They are bigger stores and so should have a good selection. The last pet store where my owner got my cage is great, but does not have litter boxes that attach nor the inserts.

My owner got me a big box today and let me tell you it is one nifty invention. I jumped on my box, I jumped in my box, I hung out a little in my box. I was so happy I did little binkies about it. :-) Go get yourselves a box, they are T-riffic!

My owner got me strawberries today. Do you guys get strawberries out there in Texas? They are all over the place here in the Bay Area of CA. If you like apples you will LOVE strawberries!!!!!! I am just crazy for them and they really make my day. Let me know what you think.

We are looking forward to your apple retreat video!
Wishing you and your mom many kisses and binkies ;-)
love,
Star

  Good afternoon bunny buddy!
Hey there Porsha! I am sorry I have not posted until now; my owner has been indisposed. She takes a few medications for her brain injury and her doctor told her that she may have developed a tolerance to one of them. So she is busy trying to switch over to another one and that can be tough.
But your last message really put me in the mood for apples, so thanks to you I got some! Delicious! Yesterday she even gave me banana! (Not too much though, because it is high in potassium) I've never had banana before and I can see now that i have a real sweet tooth.
That is interesting about Poncho making a low honking noise when happy. I make a noise too, when being petted I click my teeth together very gently. although when I am upset I make a low growling or grunting noise. That hasn't happened in quite a while.
Sigh- I am becoming fond of having a permanent home with someone who loves me. I have no doubt you feel the same way, especially from what i can see from your videos. Great videos, love to see some more!!!
Today on the channel they were posting photos and talking about the first annual bunnch bunch picnic. It is in Montclair CA and though i have no idea where that is, i know my owner bought some toys and hay from them that are really great! They are the website of the store I gave your mom not too long ago, they are a super organization! In fact, though I am not a big hay eater, I really dig this jumbo sized wicker ball stuffed with their herb blended hay with lavender. I think any bun would love it, hope you check out their store and mom gets you one! Just a thought. You probably already have lots of toys!
Right now I am jsut resting in solitude in my den (cage) and my owner is thinking of getting me a liltter box for my cage. The thing is I am a big bun and the litter box in the cage would take up space where I like to stretch out. Hmmm, what's your opinion? I tend to get poop all over the palce, but especially when I eat my food or hay. . .
WITH MY LOVE!!!!
kisses and nose bonks back,

  We all loved the video!
Cute Hamster! We all loved (including my owner's husband) loved the video of Scooter spinning. Thanks so much for sharing!
I'm eating my greens now. My owner got me Italien parsley. Delicious!
I'm getting used to things around here and am getting mroe nerve to explore. I don't like the kitchen tile so my owner is going to have to get me another blanket to hop on. Her husband keeps coming in while I hop around, I like him too. Humans can be ok!
Your last blog to me was very interesting, I especiall enjoyed hearing about Meaghan's 4-H. You are right, the more i go outside, or anything else, the more I will get used to it. I usually don't enjoy being picked up and held, but I am getting used to that too. Does your mom hold you guys often?
I loved hearing about Poncho's quirk of growling (of course that was the blog before last) and your quirks too, although i am sorry that you get scared or nervous, that is no fun. But now that you are both out of the shelter (how long has it been now?) you guys are probably loving your life. your mom sounds especially loving and caring. What a winner of a person your mom and dad are! I was touched about your dad wanting to take in Ringo. Awesome.
My owner tried the hay rack again and it just doesn't work for me. Sigh! I think she will go out and get a litter box for my cage that she can put hay in. Trouble is finding a litter box that will attach to the sides. I pulled the last litter box out, so that was useless!
Well, we shall see.
Anyways, we are all thinking about you all today. love to Meaghan and your mom's other daughter too and bunny kisses and hugs to you Poncho and Scooter. i still vote for you.

So Hoppy to be your furiend too! :-)
Hi there Porshy!
My owner and I find your family very interesting. Dad is a Patrol Seargent. Does that mean he is in the army and you guys are stationed at a base in Texas? We found Poncho's and your behaviour very interesting too, it was really nice of you to share and we are so sorry that some sounds still scare you. It's comforting to know I am not alone. Shelter bunnies just have it hard I guess.
Thanks for the tip about going outside on the ground and grass. My owner's previous bunny did that and did not have a problem, but it's not to say that one won't come up. On the other hand we read in Rabbits For Dummies that rabbits love to run around in a vegetable garden or field of grass and that this is a wonderful way to spend time with your rabbit, so I am not sure who to listen about this one. Maybe you jsut have to be careful.
Speaking of outside my owner put my cage and me outside and got the idea to cover up one side of the cage with a towel so the I can run away from the dog when she comes sniffing. It was a beautiful treat. It must be nice to have the run of your house and even a patio to run out on! How fun! Well it all worked out and the trip outside was nice (although i did charge the dog once :-))
It is great your mom is a nurse that must help in taking care of you two. Please tell her that we don't think she's crazy ;-).
You must live out on a farm because Meaghan has a show pig! Wow! Did it win? Do you have any other animals?
Well, my owner is disabled now but she used to be a high school math teacher at inner city schools, and for two years she taught math on the Navajo reservation. She is a member of the Baha'i Faith, whose fundamental principle is the onenness of humanity and that God loves diversity; she really wanted to go out to these schools and reach youth of all backgrounds and let them know that every created thing is special and are like flowers of one garden. Sje used to take her rabbits to school and when she was breeding rabbits her students would adopt them! Her husband helps takes care of her now and also her son who has autism. Tough life! They stay in a room at her parent's house and I get a room in the pantry.
It is always so fun (and educational) to hear from you and so please let me know what you are up to these days and I really love our furiendship.
Many kisses to you too,
Your bunny buddy,
Starlight

  You guys are super friends!
Hey there! I loved your message, yes we are very VERY glad my teeth are ok, you really gave my owner some food for thought and so we went to the vet right away. Gosh, Austin is far! Well, for people who live in Arizona and Texas, you are right, 40 minutes is not far. My owner lived in Arizona for a few years teaching math on the Navajo Rez. Everything was a drive for her and people used to say that two hours drive to Flagstaff from the Rez was not far, but 6 hours drive to Phoenix was far. Well, you are right of course, you gotta go where the docs know bunnies! I am again so very sorry about Ringo. Your mom really did all she could for him. It is SO hard to lose a special furry friend, nobody understands except those who have them.
Well, today my owner gave me my first brushing. It did not go well. The brush is an alien being with a grudge towards rabbitkind; it must be destroyed.
Anyways, no more brushing for me thanks. And while we are at it, I think we'll just clip our nails at the vet thank you. I keep forgetting that my owner is my friend, or at least my manager. I keep forgetting she wants what is best for me. Well, you guys don't seem to have that problem, but you have to understand that I am 3 years old and 2 and 1/2 of them were spent at various shelters. Thank goodness I ended up here, for both our sakes.
Hey, there, thanks for the encouragement about outside. Well, maybe you are right and after getting some more feeling of security here in the house, I'll make a venture outdoors. My owner thinks it'll take about a year.
Well, my owner would like to know how many kids your mom has, what got here interested in bunnies to begin with, how long you all have lived in Texas, and what your mom (and dad) do for a living. Let her know and she'll share too.
Well, off to eat more hay (Hooray! :-))
You are the best frineds, we all look forward to your blog every day it's like a little treat for us! Ah, friendship is such a wonderful thing.
Many hugs and licks of warm sunshine,
Starlight
PS. Do you guys get to go outside much? Your videos and photos show you indoors. Hmmm . . .

  Hey there love birds!
Hi Porsha and Poncho! Give a little hug to Scooter for me to. :-)
Well, I just want to let you know that I took your advice and visited a vet and my teeth look great. Yes the vet there, Dr. Heddon, in addition to being liscensed to treat rabbits also owns rabbits too! We were all very relieved! I am actually really starting to get into the Timothy hay I'm getting- wow, where's this stuff been all my life? At the last shelter I didn't get much hay. Your shelter must have known a thing or two about bunnies.
The thing is now that I am enjoying hay, it is getting over my cage because I don't like my hay rack, I like to scavenge it off the ground, just like in the wild. Only I've got a cage and I'm defacating in it too and so a lot gets wasted because my owner has to clean my cage more often like this. The House Rabbit Society says to get a litter box and put litter and hay in there so it all doesn't get all over the place. But My owner is concerned that the litter box will take up too much space. So here's the next goal to tackle. What do you think?
Then the next thing to tackle is that my owner wants to put my cage outside once in a while in the shade of the trees where it is beautiful and the breeze is blowing and the birds are singing- you know it is so lovely out there! The only trouble is the dog. She's a great dog who is very mellow, a gentle dog, but she loves to sniff everything and that's going to freak me out. Sigh! Well, one step at a time. Any advice?
By the way where do you live? Is Austin very far from you to get to see your vet? It sounds like it!
Oodles of hugs to you all, and your mom too!

Hi there Porsha (and Poncho and Scooter :-))
I understand about having your nails clipped, I can't even imagine what THAT'S going to be like, I think I'll skip it! My owner made an appointment this week with the Vet jsut to have me checked over but mostly to look at my teeth. Your mom got me thinking about Ringo not being much of a hay eater. We'll find out whether or not it is that or a personality thing. Yes, my owner didn't think it might be good to have pellets all day. I have gained some weight since I got here! I thinki I'll have the Vet cut my nails. I will tell you guys all about it after I go.
That's great that you eat Oxbow hay and pellets too. I think it really is the best for rabbits they have an excellent track record and have been around for years. By the way, my owner went to Bunny Bunch Boutique (a rabbit store online) and tell your mom they have some great stuff, great toys. I really like this jumbo sized hay stuffed willow ball. i like to chew on that every now and then and I already have a jingle bell roller which I love. Have your mom visit just have her type Bunny Bunch Boutique in the google box and it will come up. It's is really a fun store that your mom will love.
My owner's husband just finished reading Watership Down, which is a fiction story about rabbits- has your mom ever read it? He says it is a good story! By the way, how long were you guys in the shelter and how long have you been a pair?
My owner and I just love the videos of you guys- you look so happy. Thanks for your understanding and ecnouragement about my living situation. I'm glad you guys understand and even relate. Well, I am sorry you relate actually, because Shelter life is not the best situation. I think bunnies do best with a situation that is stable and secure. And of course best of all is the love you get to share with someone who cares.
With ooodles of hugs and love,
Your furiend,
Starlight
PS I keep voting for you guys every day. Somday you will win.

Good evening Porsha and Poncho! (and Scooter too!)
Hey there, well, thank you so much for what you said in your email to my owner. She found it very very interesting indeed. Please excuse me for not answering right away. My owner left for the weekend to go visit her husband's mom up in Stockton so we had no access to a computer. she is very tired and I will not write long, but I have to say everything you said was very helpful to us both. I feel better knowing that I am not the only poor hay eater, I will go to the vet soon and see about my teeth. Also, before she left my owner just found out about a kind of hay I actually do like to eat. She buys Oxbow hays, and she always fed her previous rabbits the Botanical Hay because it has herbs as well as Timothy hey. Well I just wouldn't eat it so she tried me out on just straight up Timothy hay no herbs and I like that much better. still, I probably did not get a lot of hay at the shelters and that could be why also. On the other hand it could be my teeth. Hmmmm . . . I will have her call tommorrow.
The pet store guy she buys my food at says he lets his bunnies free graze on the pellets and have as much as they feel they need. I will try the 1/4 cup of pellets and see how that goes and the hay in the afternoon. For some reason I don't know why I jsut don't like the hay rack, it makes me more comfortable to pick it up off the ground. I sure wish I had a big pen like yours! I live instead in a big cage and then at night after my owner puts her son to bed I get out to roam around a little with my owner nearby. I have been through a lot and an afraid to go too far on my own away from the protection of my cage and owner. This is not her house or else she would set up a pen like yours for me. But I am ok with the way it is it is just like I have had at the shelters- in a cage for a while and then out roaming for a while. You are both very fortunate bunnies!
Anyway, tell your mom that my owner really appreciated her taking the time to let me know about hay and teeth and pellets. It is so comforting to have someone as nice as she is to talk to.
Please wish your mom a Happy Mother's day.
Let me know how you are doing and how your weekend was. did you get to the lake again?
Peace out-
Star

  Good evening Porsha!
Hey there thanks for coming to visit and leaving a message again.
My owner is seeking some input from your mom. Please tell her this: I am not eating enough hay. My owner got a hay rack and put hay in there for me, but I just gobble down the pellets and well- the hay is jst not catching my fancy, which is making my owner a bit concerned. Hay is a big part of a bunny's diet, and so she doesn;t really know what she should do.
She called her local pet store where she buys hay and food for me and he raises rabbits himself. He says that he keeps hay in the hay rack and keeps the pellet bowl full all the time and then his rabbits can eat the pellets all day as they feel they need to. But what my owner has read is that rabbits should only have 1/4 to 1/8 of a cup of pellets each day. My owner feels that if she lets me have all the pellets I want I won't be
motivated enough to eat the hay in the hay rack for me. But she is afraid that if she only gives me 1/8 cup of pellets each night that I will go hungry during the day because well . . . I am just not motivated to eat hay that much. If I go hungry I could go into gut statis which means real problems. So what should she do? This is a very important message to give to your mom so please make sure she gets it and ask her to leave her advice as soon as she can ok?
Anyways, my owner and I are off to bed. Big hug to you, and the clan.
love,
Starlight

  Cute videos!
Hi Porshy, Hi Poncho-
I watched the videos and they were very cute. I suppose that Meaghan (Sp?) is your mom's daughter?
Thanks for all the info about teeth. Just when my owner thought she could prevent illness through diet, another thing comes up- tooth abcessess. Wow, they sound just awful. I think you;ve alerted mom enough now, as soon as I'm ready to handle more people she is going to take me to the vet to get examined! I am certain I won't like it. But I have to go it seems.
Were those videos taken at the Lake?
It's late and I must go to bed, my owner is getting tired too. Give our best to everyone over there.

So Glad you got to go to the Lake!
Boy you have a super mom who takes you places! You also have a mom that knows a whole lot about rabbits in general. Thanks for letting me know about having my teeth checked by the vet, I did not even know that I should go in to see a vet every 6 months, that is something I will tell her to do. Though I have to tell you, I'm a shelter bun, and most of my life has been there- I mean I am three years old and two and a half years I spent there at the shelters, actually a few shelters. So now that I have found a home I am just now getting used to people, and I really only trust my owner but I am working on getting to know others. But too much change really freaks me out, so going to the vet will probably NOT be very fun for me! At least the first time. Well, who knows? My owner wanted to take me outside all day because it was so beautiful here in California, probably was too over in Texas which is why your mom took you guys to the Lake to hang out. The outdoor weather when it is nice is so soothing to both animals and people. Well, anyway, my owner was afraid since I have only been here two weeks that going outside might be too hard on me, since the last time she took me out there her dog, who is actually pretty mellow, REALLY freaked me out. I figure after about a month I'll be better at this sort of thing. So glad you have each other and can go places!
So what did you guys actually DO at the Lake? does your mom have property there? What does she do for a living? My owner has a brain injury so she is disabled and she also has a son as well, who is high functioning autism. I really help out in soothing my mom's life. That's so great that you all have such a super diet. I am so sorry about Ringo and his tooth abscess. That is about one of the saddest stories I ever heard.
It is always so wonderful to see a message from you in my box and my owner's email, we both look forward to it each day. Thanks for all the advice it helped. I will leave you a vote each time I come on to write something, personally I think you should both win, your pages are great now and you have LOTS of pictures which is a total plus. Maybe if my owner and I pray a little for you guys the Great Spirit will answer.
Lots of wamest wishes, love, and hugs,
Starlight
