Good evening Porsha and Poncho! (and Scooter too!)
Hey there, well, thank you so much for what you said in your email to my owner. She found it very very interesting indeed. Please excuse me for not answering right away. My owner left for the weekend to go visit her husband's mom up in Stockton so we had no access to a computer. she is very tired and I will not write long, but I have to say everything you said was very helpful to us both. I feel better knowing that I am not the only poor hay eater, I will go to the vet soon and see about my teeth. Also, before she left my owner just found out about a kind of hay I actually do like to eat. She buys Oxbow hays, and she always fed her previous rabbits the Botanical Hay because it has herbs as well as Timothy hey. Well I just wouldn't eat it so she tried me out on just straight up Timothy hay no herbs and I like that much better. still, I probably did not get a lot of hay at the shelters and that could be why also. On the other hand it could be my teeth. Hmmmm . . . I will have her call tommorrow.
The pet store guy she buys my food at says he lets his bunnies free graze on the pellets and have as much as they feel they need. I will try the 1/4 cup of pellets and see how that goes and the hay in the afternoon. For some reason I don't know why I jsut don't like the hay rack, it makes me more comfortable to pick it up off the ground. I sure wish I had a big pen like yours! I live instead in a big cage and then at night after my owner puts her son to bed I get out to roam around a little with my owner nearby. I have been through a lot and an afraid to go too far on my own away from the protection of my cage and owner. This is not her house or else she would set up a pen like yours for me. But I am ok with the way it is it is just like I have had at the shelters- in a cage for a while and then out roaming for a while. You are both very fortunate bunnies!
Anyway, tell your mom that my owner really appreciated her taking the time to let me know about hay and teeth and pellets. It is so comforting to have someone as nice as she is to talk to.
Please wish your mom a Happy Mother's day.
Let me know how you are doing and how your weekend was. did you get to the lake again?
Peace out-
