Good evening Porsha!
Hey there thanks for coming to visit and leaving a message again.
My owner is seeking some input from your mom. Please tell her this: I am not eating enough hay. My owner got a hay rack and put hay in there for me, but I just gobble down the pellets and well- the hay is jst not catching my fancy, which is making my owner a bit concerned. Hay is a big part of a bunny's diet, and so she doesn;t really know what she should do.
She called her local pet store where she buys hay and food for me and he raises rabbits himself. He says that he keeps hay in the hay rack and keeps the pellet bowl full all the time and then his rabbits can eat the pellets all day as they feel they need to. But what my owner has read is that rabbits should only have 1/4 to 1/8 of a cup of pellets each day. My owner feels that if she lets me have all the pellets I want I won't be
motivated enough to eat the hay in the hay rack for me. But she is afraid that if she only gives me 1/8 cup of pellets each night that I will go hungry during the day because well . . . I am just not motivated to eat hay that much. If I go hungry I could go into gut statis which means real problems. So what should she do? This is a very important message to give to your mom so please make sure she gets it and ask her to leave her advice as soon as she can ok?
Anyways, my owner and I are off to bed. Big hug to you, and the clan.
love,
Starlight
