I lost Jitterbug June 21st 09 ;(
My story is alot like yours..
I left her cage open and she fell into
a bucket of some kind ;( She was stuck in
the bucket for 2 days when I found her
there!
She was the best hamster for me! I trained
her to bite on command (our best trick),
roll her ball, and even come to her name
(some times that trick didn't work)!

I am sorry for your loss!
